David Benedikt Wirth

Born in 1988 in Fulda, Germany.
Lives and works in Berlin.

He attended the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he became Meisterschüler of Professor Eberhard Havekost. In 2021, he received the NRW—Bank Art Prize for painting and graphics. Wirth’s work has been featured in exhibitions across Europe and Asia, at Landtag Nordrhein-Westfalen (2022), and White Block Art Center in Seoul, South Korea (2022). In his artistic practice, Wirth draws on his own image archive to explore themes of society and culture, examining the relationship between human beings and their environment, and all that binds and holds us together. His works grasp the viewer’s eye, challenging them to understand the unforeseen that lives within them. The images create an interface between a presence of their obviousness and a latency of their meaning. His careful, naturalistic painting technique evokes those specific layers that convey feelings of temporality as well as liveliness.
